82 deg counter sunk holes with matching screws, will align and hold

Don I think you miss under stood what I said.
what I said is true I said will align and will hold as in clamp I said nothing about
shearing if you jump on it hard enough. one of the hardened dowels
I use is the back stop weather the spacer runs up to it or not
the other is in the back for alignment only and of course the pivot
with Ball bearings which I'm not counting.
you say
Murphy's Law always applies sure if you put
enough pressure on anything, it's going to brake some how. if not shearing then by spreading and poping the head off.

I put 2- 1/16 hard dowell pins through the back bar, into the side plates.I think they add lateral srength as well as function as re-alighnment pinst for assembly. If you use button head screws and counter-bore for clearance, IMHO it helps to have the pins in place so the handle doesn't shift.

I'll say what I said back on the first page.

We could tell you a dozen ways you could possibly make your folders stronger but only you will know when you reach the point of diminishing return.

I reached that point about 12 years ago. :)

This has been a good thread.
