Indian Army Issue?

The biggest thing I had against it was the full tang that vibrated way too much when one was chopping any wood that was decently hard.

...And if the blade is suitably decent I may even go so far as to make a new handle for it.

Been there :)

This is one of the earliest knives in my collection. It is an AC khukuri that has been re-handled in aluminum. I simply profiled the scales on bar stock and started grinding. It works, but it's heavy, and I learned that grinding aluminum is probably a little like punching your way through a room full of marshmellows - it takes determination.

Thanks for pix and story, n2s. Grinding aluminum is sort of like grinding wood. Most wheels aren't made for it.

If anybody wants to try one of these out, I have one thats handle is to big for my hand. Email me your adress and you can have it. I allready put an edge on it. Keep in mind its not a H.I. Imports quality Khukuri but its one to use when you dont want to get a $150 Khuk dirty, and its free.
