Indian Mountain Whetstone?

An old friend passed away awhile back, his widow gave me this whetstone.
Are they good? What kind of care should I give it?

Yes. Keep it oiled when you use it. More sentimental value than $$$. You might get more action over on the Maintenance sub forum.

I'd give it a soak in kerosene and see if you can get those filings out.
