I know there are a bunch of threads out there of building your own etcher for $50 or so and those are great if you can gather all the supplies, there are also threads out there using a simple power supply for a computer for an etcher, while these are easy and inexpensive they offer a limited dc source only.

Here is a dc/ac power supply with a 1.5-30 (current limited) volt dc supply and a 6.3 or 12.6 ac source. You can get the power supply fully assembled for about a third of some of the etchers out there or you could get the kit and with a couple hours of assembly and soldering have an etcher for about $60 after shipping.

I'm not saying that it's the best etcher and I am not saying its the cheapest etcher but what I am saying is that it's cheaper than the best and better than the cheapest.

I went to school for electrical engineering and still have one of these ac/dc power supply from school, dug it out the other day and worked great. Just need saltwater and some sort of etching pad and you're in business. The only down side is you're current limited to 2 amps in dc mode and 1 amp in ac mode...idk how that compares to the etchers but I have not had a problem.
