My brother found this and asked if I could use it for knife grining. (He knows I want a KMG) I dont have money yet for a bigger better grinder (The KMG) and ordered a Craftsman 2x42.

The link he sent is for an attachment to your already existing grinder (Built for Jet) and offers a contact wheel and the sizes seem to go from 6" to 10" with an additional 31/2" wheel. look at it and if your in my boat (cant afford a KMG Yet.) this may be for you. also if you have one of these let us know how it works or doesnt work.

also there are a variet of belts available (SPendy) and one Review from a guy who said he uses it for knife grinding.

Yeah I got excited when I saw it. (I already ordered the Craftsman a few day back) I thought I could do hollow grinding with this. I emailed Bruce and he said the thing goes way to fast and the wheels are too small. Well back to the Drawing board

Just keep saving for a good grinder while you use the sears. Good luck.

I agree. I have one. It'll do a decent job of profiling the steel, but offers very limited option for everything a knife maker needs. I use it mostly as a utility grinder.

That is why this place and a good friend who is an incredible knife maker are soo valuable. they save you money when you think of buying stuff that might not do the job right.

You can find those machines with Blue Point (Snap-On) labels on eBay for just over $100 these days. In my opinion, it's better than any other $100 grinder. I bought one a long time ago and parted it out, using the contact wheel, tracking assembly and drive wheel to build a larger grinder. The wheels are quite well made.
Good luck.
