Inexpensive Hunter?

Hey Charles Gallo nice to see someone else likes the old lil finn! I've had three so far. Just wished it has better steel. </font>

That's why I bought the custom <g>. Almost identical blade to the Lil Finn ( a tad longer), with a different handle

Bob Dozier's knives are THE best hunters I've ever used. Truly awesome shape and sharpness. Excellent sheaths. You will love them.

there's a ton of fine suggestions here. Let me simply add that a Scandinavian puokko is worth considering as well; many of those are designs that've really stood the test of time. Nice wood handles. You can see a good selection at Ragnar's site, which I think is ragweedforge.com.

Corbet Sigman still makes his utility hunters for under $100. These have great high carbon steel blades and nice wood handles. Plus, they are as nicely finished as anything out there(minus a handrubbed finish). I have 3 of them right now, but might be willing to part with one of them since I went overboard in Little Rock this weekend. Email me if interested.

The Spyderco Wegner (folder) and Fallkniven F1 (fixed) are two of the finest production general purpose / utility / hunting / survival / tactical knives out there. I've used both, with excellent results, on deer and other northwoods critters. They have good to great steels, hold an exceptional edge, sharpen up easily when they need it, good to great ergonomics, and are both well suited to the hunting environment.
