Inexpensive knives and curiosity

I thought I would update this. I still have not recieved the Boker Magnum knife.

One of the hazards of dealing with inexpensive knives, appearantly(SP?) is the vendors.

Eight dollars flushed.

Now, compare that to Shepherd Hills, the case vendor I bought from, or LarryM, the forum member I bought from recently, and you have a much better buyer experience when looking at the case/ queen/ etc range of knives.

Hi guys,
The third knife arrived in the mail and is a very pleasant surprise. The Boker knife has good fit and fininsh and is a decent knife for the few bucks that I spent.

I am ready to pass this group of knives on to the next curious person. If you have not seen these brands and want to check them out, PM me your address. USe them, sharpen them and review them and pass them to the next guy.

I just bought a Buck Bantam (285) from kmart for 15.00. It came out of the pack shaving, which is pretty surprising coming from a chinese buck, but i dunno how long it will keep that up. i usually keep a leatherman juice around with me and it stays really sharp for a good long while, but anyways, i decided i needed a knife that can clip to my pocket, open with one hand, and will stay razor sharp. i have a friend that bought a chinese buck and he's been using it for about 4 months non stop and it still carries an okay edge. ill repost a little bit later how the knife holds up if anyones interested.

So far I have bought traditional pattern knives from China with the names Remington. Camco, Browning, Smith and Wesson, Mossberg, Colt and Owl Head. Of these seven examples the Browning Congress pattern seems to be the best value in fit and finish and also razor sharp. None have been used enough to see how well they will hold up over time. Prices paid ranged from about $6 to $13 plus shipping on auctions. Look forward to adding Marbles and R&R in the near future.
