Long time lurker first time thread starter here

I am very new when it comes to blades, but really really like the wharncliffe blade shape for EDC. I just recently purchased the Kershaw Needs Work from the forums here, but I was wondering if there was something a bit thinner, more edc friendly with that blade shape, for roughly the same price?

I really like the look of the Random Task ii, but that is slightly out of my price range at the moment, but I am sure I will eventually jump on it.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you.

If you are right handed, the Delilah's P.E.C.K. from CRKT is a lot more useful than it looks. For right-handed knife tasks that involve a "paring" type cut, it is amazing. The chisel grind is very easy to sharpen as well. And it is a very easy to carry knife.

Edit: also, there are a lot of slipjoint patterns available with nice wharncliffe blades.

If you'd consider a sheepsfoot, there is the Byrd Rescue versions of their folders, which also come in fine edge.

The Spyderco Centofante 4 sounds perfect, but it will be more expensive and you will have to track it down since it has been discontinued.

Kershaw Centofante models seem to still be around if you look. Sanrenmu 721 is pretty good Wharncliffe and very inexpensive.

Thanks for the replies. That boker blade looks really interesting. I may try and find a Kershaw centofante for the time being, until I can either come up wth the funds or find a blemmed random task ii.

The Leek is basically the best knife ever for EDC. It can get scary sharp, has a great tip, is sturdy, and just looks good. My only 2 complaints are that the tip is thin, and it has no left-handed carry options.

I am left handed, but I basically accepted the fact I have to compromise for now, until $ is less of an issue. Right handed knives don't bother me

If you can EDC a fixed blade, there's also the Snody Instigator from Benchmade. It's got a right-handed chisel grind though. Less than $50.

Kershaw "Needs Work"
+1 on the Needs Work, especially if you can find the G10 version. Although the colored handle versions are cheaper.

In all seriousness, how about the Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite? $20 or so most places. Tri-ad lock. Very EDC friendly as well.

If you need a blade for like breaking down cardboard, the CRKT Edgie 2 is good option. I don't know if it is considered a wharncliffe, but it's close enough. I wouldn't suggest it for EDC, though. The blade gets VERY jagged, and... for lack of a better term... nasty.
