Inferiority

INFI is undoubtedly tougher . . . . And when it does sustain enough force on the edge to take it past it's threshold, it more often slightly rolls rather than chipping = longer Knife life and less "real" damage

SR-101 is fantastic --- you're certainly not holding anything inferior. For pure cutting it remains sharp slightly longer. It's amazing Steel and has even more amazing heat treatment protocols accompanying it.

Just Beat It and Don't Sweat It

Nothing wrong with SR-101. Absolutely nothing. Hold your head up high and know with a surety that you own one bada** knife!

I used to feel that way about my first piece of SR101 until I moved to a new house and had to cut up a mountain of cardboard boxes and found that it held an edge better than my INFI. Fast forward to a camping trip where I did a bunch of batoning to stock up the firewood pile for the weekend and once again the SR101 came out on top for retaining a truly sharp edge. Anymore I don't care which of the two steels I end up with. Both are tougher than a two dollar steak. One doesn't rust, which is nice. One holds a killer edge a bit longer, which is also nice. Six in one hand. Half dozen in the other.

+1

This is my experience too

I'm liking sr101 simply because I can pickup more classic blades on the want list that aren't near the top without putting out $1200 etc. per blade. Top would be a LE or Satin FBM or NMFBM with some nice scales Tigerhyde, Snakeskin, nice g10's etc.

I have some A2 coming but haven't even held any TG yet, so I don't know. But if I do feel inferiority over having SE instead of LB, it will probably have more to do with weight than steel. (I do have a B8LE as a consolation/alternative though :D)

One nice thing about SR101 is I haven't found any ugly pits in any of mine. Have found those damned grinder marks but they've been showing up on infi too. Sure would be nice to get back to smooth blades and pretty infi dimples.
