INFI and S7 versus my old bedframe

The winners were a Buck Brothers hacksaw blade and leverage plus muscle.

Here's part of the bedframe:

Here's my lil helper:

Here's my Muddy Buddy (sorry for crappy photo):

Here's what a few hacks into a bedframe - a soft steel bedframe - did to the edge:

Dents, nicks, and rolls. The bedframe got it worse, but not much worse.

Here's my S7 RD-9 from Ranger Knives. The steel is arguably different and the edge is much thicker (it's a fatty bombalatty through and through!):

The combination of the thicker edge and more shock-resistant steel made for deeper cuts into the bedframe, but no steel is idiot-proof:

Dents, chips, and rolls. Not as deep, but harder to fix.

Here's the hacksaw that sped some stuff up:

Conclusion:

INFI rules, Busse rules, S7 rules, and Ranger Knives rules. Stupid actions... ...fun, but they don't rule so much.

Thank goodness for benchstones and belt-sanders!

LOL!! Here comes the flood of that never happened I do it all the time posts!

You got Cajones grande mang! How about some progress reports and pictures of the reprofile work and the end product?

Thanks man.... Very funny!

That was insane.....I love it!

After using the hacksaw to cut up the bed frame, you then should have used the Busse to chop the hacksaw in half - INFI still rules! Your test is incomplete. ;)

So it took about an hour and three 100 grit belts, but now they're both sharp again:

I'm now painfully aware that the belt-sander is, indeed, much faster than my coveted D8XX benchstone (and louder, and more expensive over the long term....)

There were only 12? Kewl! Now there are 11.88!

hell of a chopper they are, that's for sure! wouldn't it be cool if there were some battle mistress's made exactly half way in thickness between the cg and the le's and without corrugations :foot: ;)

It wasn't a test, Paul. Was putting away my Muddy Buddy and store it in the same place as my RD-9 knives. My S7 RD-9 was the only winner in the "strike a worn scratching post and not get lots of nicks" sweepstakes, so I thought "why not?" Plus, I'm still using the hacksaw and not done with cutting the bed frame.

Cobalt,

Thanks for the link! The RD-9's thicker bevel and thicker overall blade (having more mass) sure do explain why it bit deeper and wider and suffered less damage than the Muddy Buddy.

no, that would be horrible. no one would buy them. in fact, dont even put them in the inventory.

but i will test one, just to be sure.

Sounds very cool! I think my FBM limit is two CGs, but single-malt grade FBMs (smoother and richer than the blended CGs) sound oh so good!
