???? INFI dimples ????

thanks for the pics. i have seen knives with similar look to those dimples. it looks really good that.

it seems more dimply than normal hot rolled steel, but then again i have never bought hot-rolled steel with that much cobalt or nitrogen in it.

If I had to guess, I would say that the dimples came from the steel mill and are just surface imperfections from the hot rolling process. Surface grinding large sheets of steel adds significant cost to the manufacturing process.

It is my understanding that the Factory Variant Police Recruits are INFI with all holes the same size.

Made that way to make them easier to identify.

73 INFI Police Recruits made, and just a few Variants, and no Variants before the INFI Police Recruits were made.

BubbaThud, Right here on these forums has the very first Police Recruit Variant made and it has three holes all the same size and was a Special Order knife at that time.

I am not sure at this time, but I think that there were Ten Bead Blasted, Ten or maybe twenty Crinkle coated and the balance Flat Black coated, plus a few Variants mostly Bead Blasted.

Interesting facts, Andre.

I have been told that this particular PR Variant was Andy Prisco's personal knife. I have no reason to not believe the person who told me that, but I haven't checked with Andy to see if it is true. It really doesn't matter to me.

On the other hand, I have a few A2 knives and this is most definitely not in the same category as them with respect to corrosion resistance. Just that fact alone makes me pretty certain it is INFI.
