Wow. I never expected this...
I have a Ratmandu in INFI. It's my first INFI blade. I have been in love with it until this evening. I went out to walk in the woods near my house and took it with me. I found a sapling a little more than an inch in diameter that would make a good walking stick. I stripped bark, chopped it to length against another tree and slide-chopped the knots off of it. Nothing out of the ordinary.
When I got home I went to wash it off in the sink and noticed damage. Some of the material was rolled which was enough of a shock. But what really sent me reeling was the missing blade material. Yes, folks, that is missing material from the blade. From making a walking stick. I am so disappointed. From everything I have read I was expecting the blade to be much tougher than this! I hope this is a fluke. I have a TGLB on the way and I hope it can handle more difficult tasks than this!!
It took about an hour with 1800 grit wet/dry sandpaper to get an acceptable edge back on the knife. There is still a tiny spot that I'll probably have to fix with a stone. So. Bummed.
