INFI + Melonite?

I used to have a 1911 that I had Melonized (similar to Glock's Tenifer), and it refused to rust. It also had a businesslike matte black look.

I'm no metallurgist, so I'm wondering if a INFI could be Melonized without losing any of its desirable traits.

I Melonized this one, and it hasn't rusted yet. Still cuts good too.

The finish on my Glock is still perfect after almost 8 years in and out of leather holsters. Put it away dirty with prints, months later, still no rust on the slide. I wonder how it would hold up to chopping.

Guyon, I gotta wonder if you just happened to have that pic lying around...or if you went and stabbed a melon just for the occasion. Either way....BWAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I actually drove to the market, selected a melon, came home, selected a knife, sharpened it, set up some lighting, stabbed the melon, took the shot, checked for rust.

All for you, Ben.

I'm a giver. :p

It's funny, but before I even saw the second post, I knew that picture was coming. I'm now off to melonize an ASH-1.

I'm not familiar with the actual process to know how much heat is applied. . . .

I checked out your website and I've got a couple of Glocks that I'd like you to do your magic to. . . Very cool ! ! ! !

Email me at jerry@bussecombat.com and I'll send a couple of guns your way!

Thanks man!

Jerry :D

Ben...

You better do those up VERY nice. We'll hafta get pics of Jerry's Glocks with our collection of knives as well. Now I REALLY wish we had come up with some way to get the Boresight logo onto the polymer. That would have been so fitting.

Maybe once ya talk to Anvil Arms about that other idea... : D

Ben, would your grip texturing work on a Ruger? I have a P95 which is a nice shooter, but it's a gun on which I've always used a Pachmayr slip-on grip. Be nice to have the more ergo grip as an integral part of the frame.

Roger that, Jerry...email on the way.

Guyon...your Ruger will be a different animal. I don't have a pic of one, but it'll turn out sort of like this H&K I did recently:

The ribs are done at a MUCH lower temp, brother.

if you're free this eve, stop by the shack...there might be a rib or two left over.

And btw, I'm still looking into options for getting my logo on the guns, but that's on the back burner for now.

It NEEDS to be done. Put it down on the bottom of the grip, near the mag-well. Even if it's a rudimentary image, it'll be cool.

Btw...when are you expecting that NOe?
