INFI + Melonite?

I called Anvil today to bounce some tooling ideas off Jon. Waiting for a call-back. I was thinking about putting the logo on either side of the grip in the center, ala the colt medallion on a 1911.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

new-

I don't know metal, so that's what I was wondering. I also don't know the details of the process, but I think the metal sees only brief exposure to the chemicals, and therefore the Melonite is a microscopically-thin surface layer. If the surface is hardened, but the underlying steel is unchanged, then when the edge is ground, un-Melonized steel would be exposed.

I saw where one of the hogs had a blued INFI knife, but hot bluing temps are frigid in comparison to Melonizing (but the exposure time in the bath is longer, perhaps).

I'm just hypo-theoretorizing here, which is my terminology for "thinking out loud."
