Infi Ratmandu??

Would you buy a satin Infi release of the Ratmandu ?

  • No, doesn't appeal to me at all.

I love the Ratmandu, it's just about the perfect blade in my opinion, and as I have mentioned in previous posts, about the only thing that could make it better would be a limited edition satin Infi release.

I know this is nothing more than a pipe-dream, but I am curious if there are others out there, like me, that would jump all over this if it was ever produced?

:D

SR101 much better steel then INFI to me. I rather see BA, MS, AD and especially GW in SR101 then Ratmandu in INFI. Ratmandu is perfect already.

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S. I would say SR101 not just better then INFI, but it is best steel so far to my knowledge...

Vasilli, I'm listening...

Listening is one thing, understanding is a whole other thing entirely. :p:D

After that dramatic exit a while back, its refreshing to see Nozh back in action. :)

Vasilli, what do the numbers signify? Force? Number of cuts? It looks like you're only testing edge-holding ability there?

It is same test I was doing last year. This is edge-olding and table has force needed to cut cotton thread in 0.1 oz (statistical median from 21 measurements) after number of cuts (first column) of 1/2" manila rope.

Edge holding is simple astonishing! Way ahead of all suppose-to-be supersteels like ZDP189 and SRS15. INFI shows not bad results as well - bit better then medium range steel from my testing pool, but not even close to SR101.

With that chopping concrete by Ratweiler(?) demonstration I remember, I guess there is not questions about SR101 toughness as well. So this is how I came to conclusion that SR101 is best steel so far (except it is not rust resistant).

With all this I really like to have some Busse models which I like made with SR101. Fortunately I already have some SR models where SAR Rat is the best. But I like to have few smaller knives like GW, AD or MS.

Thanks, Vassili.

Yes one in infi, please. Or SR101. Just re-release this bad mamajama again.
