INFI vs. SR-101 Steel

Jerry has told me they have never refused a warranty for any reason.

I took a comp finish sarsquatch, reground the entire blade (non issue) with damage, then brought the edge down verrrrry shallow. Pretty much, I wanted to see how shallow a grind INFI could go without deforming, I found out my answer. If I were to eyeball and "recreate", what I had done, I would say the edge was put between 10-13 or so degrees per side and dented + tore out along the edge when used splitting/chopping frozen wood. No big deal, Jerry said to send it in, I declined and fixed it. I have no fear of Busses warranty, it's top notch.

I was looking for something else, and came across this old thread. The first part is a discussion of whether a modder should put his own mark on a blade, and who should held responsible if a modded blade fails. My link starts on the fourth page of the thread, where Jerry responds that Busse has dealt with modded blades, although he does not mention any failed knives. Later, Cobalt brings in an even older quoter from Cliff Stamp, who reports on taking the edge of a BM-E down to ~ 17 degrees (included angle). Interesting.

You cannot break a full Japanese sword, tamahagane and differentially hardened that way either, Ii will take a 45 degree bend back and forth for at least 4 to 6 lines. Just movie stuff!
