I dont own any INFI blades and havent used any.
My questions is how does the steel compare to others in regards to how long it holds a edge?.

You will own a piece of INFI soon! Like right after you read the testimonials from the HOGS. I have not put my Warden to task yet. IMO, Wardens are a good place to start. ;)

I nearly bought a FBM at a good price but i had other things to get at the time.Plus i couldnt justify buying a knife at that price i would never use as i just had another kid.
I will get some one day without doubt.
I like the wardens it looks ideal for edc.The type of blade i would get good use out of also like the AD.

INFI absolutely cannot be beat in the big choppers... It's just amazing stuff.

I also love it in an EDC, it has really good retention without brittleness--- AND is easy to touch up.

If you have any other particular steels in mind, some of the guys around here can give you very specific answers in regard to performance and properties.

BUT I promise, you will never regret an INFI purchase. Really, it has to be used to be appreciated. So save up and take the plunge

I have a lot of folders small blades in S30v and while i know there is no comparison in toughness i know how this steel performs unlike INFI.
S30v does wear well though is INFI similar enough not to notice a diffrence in edge holding between the two?.
Either way if not INFI im sure would make up for it in ease of sharpening by the sounds of it.
Although when i get one i want to try and get a covexed edge preferebly on it if not then put on it.

Edge retention is the reason I am here.

I've chopped down scores of Mesquite, Oak, and Cedar with my FFBM and have never sharpened it. No need to... it still shaves. INFI really is incredible stuff.

I have used an FFBM to chop through four 2x4s, one 2x6, one 4x4, and some rope. After all that the edge would still shave.
INFI is incredible!

even better, is when you eventually make contact with something harder, it is much easier to clean up the rolls, than to have to grind out a chip.

A better all around steel of course..

My SOG twichII made of AUS8 is a brute ..

Really?
OMG call Jerry! Let him know he has to recall all INFI.
To help him out, I'll volunteer to take all bigger things, such as AKs FBMs and Dragon Fangs.

i was cutting grade pegs with my paul's hatchet. i had cut a 8 penny nail in half, and didn't notice till i was trimming the peg down and saw a shiny spot in the wood. there was just a little roll of the edge were it hit the nail. that's pretty good in my book.

I'll take all the Straight Handled Satin Jacks Jerry has sitting in the storage room..

I may have to try it, Just to be sure.

Are you saying it is better than INFI or S30V?

.

Tony, I am pulling your chain.. I am super board right now and want to see what reactions I get to my claim... (sigh)

stirring the pot:D:D

a bit ...

Here are some AUS8 blades That I tested out.. Both "were" mid range folder, (not cheap crap)

The bottom one (SOG TwitchII) was a sweet little blade and is a great deal... I would like to try the TwitchII XL ....

In the end though AUS8 is not infi and both failed with minimal effort and force..
