INFIcoot value?

Got both, the Scrapper is a real decent knife for the price, but the INFI Coot is a step up on all fronts. It's hard to qualify a subjective feeling, until you hold both. Then you "get it".

To add little content that hasn't already been stated in this thread, I submit the following:

Prices ebb and flow in the secondary market depending on what is (and HAS BEEN) recently available.

No EDCs from the Wauseon three in a while? EDCs go pricey on the secondary market. The same example holds true for choppers and specialty blades like the kensei.

If your sole question is regarding the use and desire for the blade, they are very different blades even from the same class. I like the thin mudder gripped blades a lot but **quickly** sold my Bandicoot due to it irreconcilable differences. Meanwhile, my first-gen Howling Rat has been an almost constant companion in my EDC bag.

"My eyes" are irrelevant since I wouldn't buy a 'coot again. To answer your question as asked though: "Yes." The 'coots will probably be a bit cheaper for a while, if I had to guess. In fact, the mudder Bog Dogs often sold for as much as the INFIcoot on the secondary market and they were made of D2 or SR101.

Yeah, back in the day, I had a Bandicoot and 3 of the INFIcoots from the original release.

I really tried to make myself love them and used the coot and 1 of the INFIcoots.

Just never happened. Not like the way I love my HR. Still have that close to 5 yrs later, all the coots are gone.

Funny thing is, I never duplicated my HR till the recently arrived HRLM. Never thought about it because it was such a heavily utilized user.

Well I got my INFIcoot yesterday and my SS4's today and I have to agree. The INFIcoot just has that something that sets it apart. The difference isn't huge and the value award surely goes to the SS4 but I really like the INFIcoot!

BTW, did all INFIcoots come with a penetrator tip?

Rob,
What do you think about the current HRLM vs your previous HR?

Well, to be honest, I haven't used it yet. But I VERY much like the smaller choil. Just seems to go with that size blade better. My HR is a GenI that I got in '02 and even with that smaller choil it seemed to always be getting hung up on something. It was used mainly as a kitchen/anything knife till the Bog Dog came along and became my wife's new favorite.

LOL I got this into the safe before she saw it.

I am very impressed with the grip though. Very comfortable no matter the position.

Hope they keep this standard for a bit, I think it will be more popular than the original. It's like they took an outstanding design and made it even better.

Coot's design is my least favorite of the whole SR line. To me, the handle looks kinda big for the blade. Looks like it has the same handle with HR which fits HR perfectly but just not right for Coot. Yeah I know pp1 say it feels very comfortable but so does SS4. TBH SS4's design is more pleased to me. If I can only choose one between SS4 and Coot, I'll pick up SS4 without a doubt.

That was exactly my experience. The coot lovers seemed to be few and far between but those that did love them??? Watch out! Passionate!

Just one of those things that fit some people but not all (or most.) The Howling Rat, though. To know one was to love one! :D

Well, MtMike and I are at polar opposites! LOL

He loves the Coot like I love the HR.

In his pic on the Busse Sheathmaker section, that's a Coot jammed in his belt.

I just figured it was the high altitude and cold that affected his thinking, but perhaps being ex SEAL had something to do with it.

Naaa, it had to be the snow and thin air! LOL
