The OPK were great for those that filled that certain nitch for them. Who would not want a Quality Hollow Handle Survival Knife....? If I had known they would have been going away, I would easily have bought one or two in every size. Not for the resale, but to have and cherish such an amazing knife. I have sold some of mine, but they were ones I just know I will not use. I personally prefer the spearpoint versions and have several of them. I had 17 at one time, but have a couple less now. My latest one being a Shadow IV with SawBack. I still buy them and sell them, depending on my interests at the time.........The truth be known though, sales were probably dwindling on the OPR. Its not like they broke easy, so if you had one, unless you wanted another in different size or style, you were set. Most people buy New of something because the old one wore out, was not happening here. They would have cost a lot more to be made entirely here in the US, but would not have cost nearly as much as you see them going for nowadays.............Your best bet is to get an original price list ( or for those that have that price list burned into their brain ) and double or triple that price. If its a really rare one like the kathathu, expect to pay over 1K easily regardless of orignal price. The CRK OPR will forever be my favorite fixed blade of all time. Just as the large regular sebenza will forever be my favorite folder of all time. Its something that One Company is able to cover both fixed and folding with such amazing products..........There are other Companies knives that I like, really like in fact, BUT......I ALWAYS come back to CRK.........The only fixed blades I have seen that can compare to CRK's are Busse and Bark River ( love the bravo's ). The only folders would have to be Hinderer ( just too pricey ) and ZT. But when you compare them side by side, its tough to beat CRK.
My advise is if you have a hankering for a certain OPR and you see one at a decent price, GET IT. The price is only going to go UP UP and Away.....!!!
