Inflated Prices for One-Piece Knives?

We always want, and value more, what we can't have (or can't easily get)... ;)

I find this is a very true statement. As soon as we find out it's not avil and harder to get, only then do we want it. Stupid human nature is why we don't have more money in our pockets =)

I'm really kicking myself for not picking up a mountaineer when they were available. I like the Green Beret/Pacific models but I'm not really a huge fan on combo edged blades. Will CRK be making any non-combo edge larger fixed blades in the future?

Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay !!

I got some more I'm posting soon... If you can't run in the tall grass stay on the porch..lol.

lol, I really appreciate the input from everyone. Im working on moving a good portion of my collection now, hopefully I will be lopping that "tall grass" down soon with a new (new to me anyways) Mountaineer ;)

pay whatever it's worth to you

I agree with this sentiment. I know what I like, and I know what I am comfortable paying. When buying knives, I have held to my price, and walked away with a good deal. And, probably just as often, I have overpaid for a knife that I have come across at the right time.

More pertinent to this thread, though, I came across a CRK - Al Mar collaboration one piece (the mid-sized one) back in the fall. I finally pulled the trigger on that purchase in January. I have no idea what it's "worth", but I know I have a great knife that I have desired for some time.

jhp, you SUCK, I've been waiting for a good price on one of those collaboration with Al Mar but never got one. You know how many times I have kicked myself in the ass for not buying when I had the chance? What size did you get it in? How about showing us some pictures =) Congrats on the score!

Food for thought.

Chris Reeve OPK's are demanding a premium....some are 10 years old and are seldom listed for sale.

On the other hand we have current production knives ( I call flavor of the weeks ) that sell for double the price.

IMO , the CR's are a better collectors value.

As sick as it sounds , when i was in the game ( i played hard ) the hunt was a big part of the addiction.

You're so right and now the hunt for "reasonably" priced OPR CRK is the game. ;)
