Hi:
First post, but I couldn't find some of the info I'm looking for anywhere in a search. Specifically, I would like to know the width of the blades on these knives:

Becker Companion
Becker Combat Utility
Ranger RD-6/ESEE-6

I currently have a Kabar standard length knife with the serrated blade, but I really dislike the serrations, and I want to replace it. I have a Blackhawk that was made for the Kabar a few years ago, and I really like it - I'd prefer to keep using it. I wondered if any of these knives would still fit it, or if their blades are too wide (spine to edge), in case I decide on one of these, rather than simply getting a new Kabar with a plain edge.

As a second question, how do people feel about using one of the knives listed above for general camping, hunting, hiking utility stuff (and as a potential survival tool) as compared to a standard Kabar?

I've never been much of a knife guy, but I'm basically looking for something very durable, moderately heavy (I'm a smaller guy, so extra weight actually is helpful in transfer of kenetic energy), full tang, simple design, and less than $100.

Got an RD-6...blade is 1 5/8 just forward of choil, 3/8 thick, can't say how it'll work in the field as I can't EDC at work (due to length)and going onto the range isn't as frequent as it was. However, it seems hefty enough, grips not too bad, but I've got large hands so less than impressed there. Sheath seems sturdy enough. Hope it helps.

The ONtario RD series have very big handles. The height is where I have a problem. Even after sanding, for better fit and finish, as well as contour and grip, the handles are still too large for my shorter fingers.

The BK-2 has a smaller handle, and it really is about perfect. The grind is different than the Ontarios, note where the grind starts, the BK-2 just has more metal.

There are three different thickness of the RD-6
Bush series is 3/16" thick
Regular RD-6 is 1/4" I own an RD-4, and Afghan in this thickness, and the Full flat grind on these makes them taper down very well.
Signature series is 3/8" thick. I own this one, and it's an absolute beast.
