Info On Handle Materials Please?

Hey i was wondering about the synthetica handle materials.... whats out there to use? g10, micarta, linen micarta. whats the differences? pros and cons? thanks a lot

The biggest difference in the ones that you mentioned (paper and canvas Micarta also) is the material that the cloth is made from. They all use a phenolic resin as the binder, G-10 uses a fiberglass cloth, Carbon fiber uses carbon fiber, paper, linen and canvas are used for yes you guessed it paper, linen and canvas micarta. Well actually I believe that then linen isn't true linen, but a similar weight fabric. Prolly cotton. Since they all use a phenolic resin they all act similar as handle materials. They look different and they will act slightly different to form. The dust from all of them is rather bad for you. The dust from carbon fiber is very bad for you. Hope this gets you started.

Micarta is made from phenolic resin and cloth or paper.

G10 is made from epoxy and fiberglass.

Carbon fiber is made from epoxy and carbon fiber cloth.
