Can anyone provide info on the SRKW Rat Hunter...I don't own any Rats, yet, and I'm very interested in this model. I've checked info at the swampshack but was hoping to get field/utility use info from actual users (hunting/camping/hiking use). I also see they don't show up too often, anyone possibly looking to part with one? any info would be great...thanks

I had one for a little while and really liked it, but it was pretty thick and heavy for a blade that size, made me want to try chopping with it. I never really used it much. I moved it along to buy something else. If I were looking for a good heavy duty 4" blade it would be at the top of the list. They are rare and for the money, I'm sticking with the Howling Rat for now.

I have an absolutely mint Rat Hunter with a fantastic custom leather sheath made by Leatherman: kydex fusion with python skin inlay that has been acrylic stabilized and double row stiching! We are talking about a sheath made like a tank that has the grace of a prima ballerina:D! It didn't come cheap but, I guess you know the saying, "in life you get what you pay for". I have never used this knife because the minute I received it I felt it was way too beautiful to use it. Here is what I can tell you though: it is an exceptionally solid and amazingly sharp knife. As for the tip, I am sure it could go through even the toughest hide in a breeze! The choil gives you the potential to perform delicate tasks and feels great for my rather large hand. There are no sharp on it cornerns that could hurt your index. It is very well rounded. The handle is awesome in every respect. It provides great purchase no matter what the grip mode. It's also the right size for the job. What I did was that I applied a few coatings of extra virgin olive oil on the handle and now it has the sweetest color! I can't post any pictures of it but, if you send me your e-mail address I'd be glad to send you some pictures.

I own many of the Wauseon creations (both Busse's and Swamp Rat's) and I believe that this is one of the sweetest knives that ever left the factory:thumbup:!
