I have a Kabar deer(?) knife that I'd like a little more info on. It's blade is stamped "Kabar 1205 USA" so I assume the model number is 1205. The blade is stainless and mirror polished and there's an Al(?) pommel that might be for light hammering. The handle seems to be very hard leather disks with three very slight finger grooves.
Does anyone know what type of steel this has and any other interesting facts (when they stopped selling this model, etc). It was given to me when I was very young (late '70's I think) and I'm just now beginning to appreciate it as a well made and dependable cutting tool.
