I bought a very handsome A.G. Russell Paul type Opener, gentlemens knife. It's Open Lgth is about 5 1/4", Blade Lgth 2 1/4". VERY beautiful black lipped pearl slabs with a with a drop point blade mirror polished. I'd post a pic but haven't figured out how to yet. The F. tang stamp shows A.G. Russell, Springdale, ARK. bought probably in the mid nineties. Would like info on steel, value, etc. Thanks

If you post a picture I'll look through my '90s AG Russell catalogs and try to find it for you.

To post a picture enroll at one of the free photo hosting websites (I use Photobucket), upload your picture there, and then copy the link location into your Bladeforum post. It's all much easier than it sounds.

By Paul-type opener, it has a pushbutton lock like the Gerber Paul Knife? Like this:

I tried to send photos via photobucket and I got a reply that I didn't have permission to send them. The opening mechanism is not a Paul, but rather Paul-like. There is just a checkered, circled steel pad that rotates the blade open. I could probably email the photos since I can't get them posted on here.

Here are Digger's photos from Photobucket:

I do remember this knife, but haven't seen one in a long time. I'll look through the catalogs and see what I can find out.

OT: to insert photobucket pictures into your forum posts, simply copy the information in the "IMG code" box and paste it into your topic.

Sorry, but I couldn't find it in the catalogs. My AG catalog set is fairly solid back to 1998, but I recall this knife being older than that. 1992-1994-ish.

Never mind - I'm going to think this through and start a thread on a different topic.

Beautiful knife, by the way.

That's what I said, Paul Like, it's actually an AG Russell knife and I couldn't find anyone who's knows anything about or on Cuttingedge.com. I was just trying to get a fair value for my insurance inventory.

you are correct I did not read closely enough. black pearl limited number $100-150 should be a reasonable number.
