Im buying a Manix but I need some info. I see a C101 model and a C95 model. It seems to me that the C95 has the longer blade, which I want. Am I right or wrong, can someone please explain the diff. between the two models and which one they like more. Thanks.

The C95 (Large Manix) has a blade length of 3 3/4" (95 mm) with an overall length of 8 13/16" weighing in at 6.1 oz.
The C101 (Mini Manix) has a blade length of 3 9/64" (83 mm) with an overall lenght of 7 3/4" weighing in at 5.5 oz.
If possible, check both out before buying. I did and went with the Mini because it fit better in the waistband where I normally EDC, without gouging the hip when sitting. Either way they are both awsome knives and super sharp right out of the box.

I echo Erik's comments. I just dropped by the Syderco Factory Store this Tuesday and I picked both of them up. I also just bought the larger knife blind and wanted to see the comparison. I'm going to send the C95 back and get the C101. The 95 is huge. Both are solid as a rock though and a great choice. If you like that knife and blade style check out the Caly 3. I picked one of those up and it's closer in size to the Delica. Same great flat grind and absolutely the sharpest knife out of the box that I've ever purchased.

If interested in a good comparison picture between the C95 and C101 scroll down to a thread entitled "Mini Manix or Manix in this forum.

I love the feel of the full size Manix (C95). No comment on the "Mini"-Manix, as I have not tried it yet.

Wow, thanks guys. I asked for info and you all came through like gang busters. I am still up in the air over the full or mini Manix. However, It looks like I cant go wrong either way though, by the sounds of it.

I have large hands, and I find myself gripping the Mini by the choil whenever I use it. When not using the choil, my fingers feel just slightly crowded, a problem that I do not have with the full sized Manix.

The mini did not fit my hand, like the full size did, and I have small hands. I like the big boy better. Just ordered one!

Sold! I'm 6'2" and have big hands also. The pics gave me a clear perspective and I'm going with the big C95.

Your hands fit those knives almost exactly like mine do. I handled both models for a week in a passaround, and the full size model just fit my hand great, while I was always on the choil of the mini Manix (though it still felt good in the hand, my fingers were crowded when I didn't use the choil). I like having the option of keeping my whole hand back on the handle and using the choil only when I need to on precise cuts. I ended up getting the full size model for this reason. Both models felt equally tank-like.

It took me a while to figure out why they felt so different when they look so similar. The back side of the butt end on the Manix is just enough longer to shift the knife forward in the hand, relieving the slight crowding I feel on the Mini.

Amazing what a difference it makes.

I like them both but I only own the full sized Manix right now. I might get another mini but it is not top priority. If you are going to get a Manix, it should be the large one. The Mini is a great knife as well but the full sized Manix is the real deal. It is what I consider the folding knife for people that can't or won't carry a fixed blade.

When I have my Manix, I don't miss having a fixed blade at all. Unless you need a really large blade, the Manix should do just about anything a fixed blade will do. I actually prefer the CE in the full size Manix but I like the PE almost as much. The Mini should only be made in PE as the blade is not long enough to take advantage of the CE.

The $$$ were sent yesterday for the full size C95 plain edge. I do a lot of hunting/fishing and I'll be in unfamiliar bush. I also like to travel light if I can. The Manix, a firesteel and a little container of tinder with vas. cotton balls and some fatwood, will always be the bare minimum kit on me. This will be my minimal "always with me" kit to be supplemented with pack, hawk, canteen, whatever that I will need for anything longer than a day trip. I am in the boreal forest and getting lost is a distinct possibilty. I want strong, proven gear with me, if I screw up and find myself calling for mommy at night in the big bad dark woods.:D

I can't comment on the Mini Manix, as there aren't any stores near me to actually try one. I did however FINALLY take delivery of my full-sized Manix this weekend (ordered it over two weeks ago), and can give you my impressions of it.

As a background, my Spyderco knives are a serrated Clipit and a Native III plain edge. I've been carrying the Native for the last year or so, and really like it a lot. It is a little small, and I really like flat ground knives. The Manix seemed like a good solution to this dilemma.

When I got my new Manix, I was awed by the sheer size of it! I'd read other posts about it's size, but it wasn't until I held it in my hand that I realized how really almost over-sized this knife is. It really fills my hand, and is almost a little cumbersome to pull out, slide my hand down to the hole, and open. Also, I realized my new-found sharpening skills were still a bit lacking -- my Manix had hairs falling off my arm by just barely brushing the hair.

This knife feels good in my hand, though the flat handle and rather sharp G10 isn't the easiest to get comfortable with. I really like the so-called 3D effect on my Native, and still carry it (though the Manix definitely goes along, clipped outta sight for the ride). So far I've torture tested my Manix by furiously slicing some aggressive tomatos, and a cucumber that was giving me some attitude. I'm happy to report that the Manix easily handled them both! Oh yeah -- I also did the paper slicing thing, like Sal does in his Sharpmaker video, just because I could.

I think you'll end up really liking your Manix. I personally always carry my RAT-7 D2 in the woods, but that's because I like to chop a lot, and just trust the fixed blade more. The Manix will make a good companion in my pack, along with WAY too much other stuff (Glock, extra clothes, headlamp, Swiss army knife, first aid kit, lighter, power bars, water, flashlight, GPS, FRS radios, etc., etc.)

Enjoy your new knife! I found the waiting period after I ordered mine almost unbearable. When it finally got here, it was worth the wait!

Have fun out there.

Thanks buddy. I'm admittedly squirming for my Manix also.
