I'm hoping someone can provide information on this knife. I've found nothing online. I know that it's a Baretta 299, made in Japan. I believe that this is in their "Executive Series". The display box is metal. Everything is in very good condition. There is a crack on one face of the sheath. It has the factory edge. I inherited this 30 years ago, and it's been sitting in one of my gun safes. I'm hoping for some specifics on what it is and its approximate value. Thanks.

Made by Ichiro Hattori. There were two sizes. Each had a serial number (299 is the serial number of your knife, not a model number).

However, if you search The Exchange here at Bladeforums for "Beretta Daggers" you might find recent sale listings. And that can give you an idea what they are selling for.

Made by Ichiro Hattori in Seki City Japan,, appears to be model 983A, the smaller of the two made for Beretta, African ebony wood, AUS8 steel,

The Beretta boot knife model numbers were 100 and 101. Pictured below is a certificate of authenticity provided by Beretta (credit to member Cappy2capp for the pics). According to the COA there were 500 made.

After Hattori finished making the limited edition boot knives for Beretta, he continued to produce the same designs and sold them under his own brand "Hattori". The Hattori model numbers were 983A for the small, and 983B for the large (example below).

Here's a COA for a model 100. It also indicates that 500 were made.
