Guess I shouldn't have chosen the first example that came up in my own Wikipedia searchhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_generic_and_genericized_trademarks if you'd like to see more
Like Ed has been saying, the hole seems more like a patent than a trademark, but since it has a trademark, I wonder how it could be genericized. Every knife gets talon holes? [/B/Replace the word "knife" with a picture of a talon hole?[/B] The Item Formerly Known as Knife, as in the Artist Formerly Known as Prince?![]()
Who made this knife?

Or this one?

Or these other 2?

Or these 3?

Busse, right? ...But there's no logo, no identifying marks on the blade...how can we be sure? Barring that they aren't counterfeit (and these aren't), the trademark Talon hole identifies it as a Busse knife. HACKs don't count, although the Bear Cubs do have it.
ETA: The "hole" itself serves no real groundbreaking purpose...nothing the U. S. Patent Office is gonna issue a patent on...let's face it, "holes" have been around a long, long time...

Another ETA: Oops, I see your point now... Nah, I can't see the name Talon hole being genericized. Good thing, as it makes it easier for Jerry to keep active and defend.
