I just read that Blind Horse Knives is either going out of business or splitting up and becoming 2 separate companies. Am I late on this? Does anyone have more information?

I know, right? I'm always like "dang that looks neat but... ummm... no."

A certain someone has plans in the works for a keychain-size screwdriver/tinder scraper/ferro-rod spark-maker/bottle-opener/prybar thingamabob... but that's Top Secret for now.

Sounds pretty cool! Well, no bigger than most of the pry bars are that I've seen, it just seems I could easily get the job done with my knife(not advised, yeah yeah). Cool gadgets though and like I said, I'm sure I'll end up with one eventually.

Hey Lee, I've got the same Victorinox multi tool. I use mine all the time, like it a lot.

Yes, you are late on this one. Everyone has more information. Are you still using dial-up or something?

The universe is expanding, so it takes information longer to reach users out on the rim. You can tell he's way out there by the red shift in his packets.

That reminds me of a very pretty hunter I saw at the Knifemaker's Guild Show a couple years ago. I mentioned to the maker that I really admired the filework on the spine, and he said, "Yeah, I put that on there so when you look down at it, you'll remember it's not a f*****g screwdriver."

:D

HA ! I think this is one of my favorite quotes of late !

Dang!!! Had to go and really work today and we're at 10 pages already. This'n's gonna go quick.

Any modern SciFi list needs to include mention of David Weber's Honor Harrington series and his Safehold series, and Eric Flint's "1632" series.

MMMM sounds delicious... Last year the wife and I grew some jalapenos in our garden.... The plant took off like a weed and produced some of the hottest son of beechin jalapenos I have ever had in my life. It was an abnormally hot summer and apparently when the plant gets stressed like that it makes a hotter pepper. but... my god I could have won an award for those guys they were that hot... got some on my hands while cooking, washed them, but they felt like they were on fire. Inadvertently touched my face and felt like I had been dooshed in pepper spray... bad dudes... I harvested the seeds and well... They decided not to grow. Guess they were too hot to have been pollinated or something...

If you saved the seeds from a GREEN jalapeno, they will never sprout. Jalapenos are RED when they are ripe. Until the peppers turn red, the seeds are not mature. Red jalapenos have a completely different flavor from the green ones. The red ones still have heat, but they also develop a sweet overtone as well.

I have a Gerber Artifact. Have only used it to carve a small bead. Ground the phillips screwdriver head off it, because it poked me in the leg:

That bead is cool. Nice little carving! I actually had no idea the artifact had a little blade on it.

Thanks. It's pretty rough, I know, but it is small. Hard for this official old man to see. It comes with a small case of blades. The Gerber Shard is bladeless.

I use tepins, a native pepper from the southwest and Mexico, for my home-made picante sauce. When I make my "mild" batch that the rest of the family can tolerate, I only use about 1/2 ounce to 3/4 ounce of chopped up tepins for a 2.5 gallon batch. The first batch of the year each year is an experiment in fire as the peppers "heatness" will vary depending on the climatic conditions that year. Tepins will vary from 25,000 to 100,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units). About the size of a pencil eraser.

There's another pepper down here that is frequently confused with the tepin - the chili pequin. The pequin is similar but long, rather than round. Probably about 2.5 to 3 times the size of a tepin and about 1/2 as hot.

No, I just have a job and a life and stuff. If anyone has anything constructive to add, I would appreciate it.

Blind Horse is done. The owners split up and started their own companies. It looks like both companies will honor the warranties that BHK carried. Both initiatives look interesting, that's for sure.

When you Cook chicken, make sure there's no holes in the batter, else grease will leak in and overcook your meat.

There

Thanks mrn8. I'm checking out their old website to get as much information as possible.
