I inherited this knife collection from an old bachelor neighbor who lived above me when I moved to a new town. He was a great guy who played Santa when he was a little younger and worked for the mama Bell his whole career. He got into knife collecting in retirement and showed me a few of his collection when we were shooting the shit on nice days. One day I saw him trying to get into my car one weekend then going back upstairs. I didn’t think anything of it just that he was confused but when I mentioned it to my folks the next day they said I should go check on him. I immediately did and he was in very very bad shape. He was severely dehydrated and confused. I brought him to the hospital right then and they were already familiar with him. It became apparent he was not going to leave the hospital as his kidneys and other things were completely failing. He always put on a brave face and hen my wife and I would visit him (he was very fond of my wife the old dog) but the nurses said he was very rarely as lucid as when we visited. He passed on a few months later in hospice no wife or kids left just friends and memories.

Anyway he asked me to clean his apartment out which I dutifully did and made it clear I was to take his knife collection and keep the ones I liked and sell the rest. I also took many great books and a few pieces of art.

I feel like I needed to write that to do him justice and not just sell his collection willy nilly. He was a sincerely great guy and will be missed.

Here is the collection. I would love to know more about the collection and maybe some valuations. If you would like to make an offer please let me know. I have not included the pieces I intend to keep. Thanks for the help!

There are some nice knives there. However, in order to ask for values, you're required to purchase at least a Gold membership. It may be worthwhile to do that in order to know what you've got. You wouldn't want to sell some of those for the "wrong" price.

My best advice to you is to buy a gold membership right now. That way you can ask about values all you want to, and you can use the exchange here to sell off what you don’t want to keep.

If you sold any single one of those knives it would pay for a gold membership many times over.

Welcome, and sorry for the loss of your friend:( But good on you for helping him out when he needed it:thumbsup:

Just became a gold member. I hope I can lean on your expertise.

Way to go! Thank you for supporting the site.

You have some nice knives there, for sure. I know I spotted a Randall, a Microtech UDT, a Chris Reeve Sebenza of some sort, a couple of Benchmades, a Protech, a couple William Henrys, etc.

I’m not super precise on the values of all of these, but I can tell you Sebenzas go for around $500 each, that Randall is probably worth $400-$600ish, the Microtech would go for $200-$300, the Protech for $200+ depending on the model... that gold membership just paid off, huh? :D

What you should do is find the specific models of each of the knives and look at what they go for here in the exchange. That way you will have a clear picture of what you can expect to ask for them.

You have a very nice collection there. Your friend had good taste!

Indeed! I sold a couple Chris Reeves and Randall’s already but I feel much more comfortable here getting expert opinions.

I’m sure somebody here can value these, no problem.

Can you post a list of the specific brands and models? That would help to narrow it down as I can’t see the pictures too clearly on my phone.

I’m sorry to hear your friend passed on. He sounds like a good guy, and he did bless you with an outstanding knife collection.

You can also go on the Bay and do an Advanced Search to see what they've sold for there. Between here and there you should get a pretty good idea. Good luck!

I sent you a PM with a little info. Sorry for your loss and hope you enjoy your new collection.

Sorry about your neighbor. This is the first time I've seen someone actually have a nice collection. If I might make one suggestion? Keep at least one knife for yourself, I'm sure your friend would have wanted that and you get to have something to remember him by.

Oh yes there are more than a few not listed here that I’m keeping. Include some big Randall’s, Chris Reeves’ and some nice everyday carry benchmades.

I'd keep that classic Sebenza too.

I’ve been wondering if the gent who passed on was a member here... With a collection like that, I would be far more surprised if he had NOT been a member here.

I was thinking the same thing, if he wasn't, he would have more than fit in. Sorry for the loss of your friend Oleif and good luck with the sale, it's good you kept some for yourself.

The W&H with the green bone has a blade ground by Moki, handle and assembly in US. I bought one new at a not cheap store for $200. The W&H Titan is a classic. I traded for one, I'd put value at $300. The Russell belt knife is serrated, not a popular option. The Sebenza is BG42, older, desirable, top dollar, current list price. Ask in the CRK subforum. Randall, $400 maybe a little more, ask in that subforum.

Nice thing you did, you were blessed.

what a sad end...
but at least it looks like
the collection is getting
proper respect in way of disposal.
but wow! quite a remarkable
colloction at that!
thinking that the first knife pictured
looked like a charles ochs black knife
though i believe there was a protec clone
of some sort.
either way, good luck with finding
new homes for these beloved blades.

Obviously Microtech LUDT or UDT. Zoom in on the blade etch.
