You know, it was addressed:

"Spiral
Somewhere over the seas"

Addressee unknown,

Guess we should just send it to that Bill Marsh :D :D

Thanks Jonathon. You have great taste!

Very nice. Have you figured out what that inlay material is?

I don't know where to start. I am guessing that it could be gold alloy or bronze. Any ideas about non-destructive testing? I hav read about gold test kits, but they need me to scrap off some of the material to be tested on a stone and then put acid on it.

Don't see an easy way to do that.

There are also machines that electronically test. Any ideas?

Bill , I reckon a Visit your local gold smiths/jewlers is best.

Acid testing gold is tricky if its not alloyed with the standerd copper/silver mixes found in mass production European/American jewelry.Unless you are rather expierenced at testing lots of varied gold alloys.

Might be worth ringing them to let them know what youve got before walking in & pulling out a 2 foot blade though! :D
