I prefer plain handles, but a Large Insingo with micarta inlays is a stunner. Do they add any to the performance of the knife? Give you a better grip? Do they make it more cumbersome to carry comfortable as EDC?

Any opinions & experiences welcomed.

Thanks!

Independent from blade shape, I think yes.
It makes the knife, well... more a field knife, it's beefier.
Don't get me wrong, I like my plain jane and it has everything a knife needs.
It's just when I get out of the city the added scales improve the look and the haptic.
While in the city I prefer the slim appearence of the plain handles.
hope this helps.

Micarta really changes the whole feel if the sebenza.

It adds width and grip and makes it slightly lighter.

Plus if you don't like to scratch up your handles they help.

They are def. worth it imo.

Wait. So, you're saying the amount of Ti removed vs. the weight of the micarta inlaid makes the overall knife lighter? Miniscule amounts, I'm sure... but, that's still good to know. Is it a definite difference in weight? Can you "really" feel it?

Go for it. I want a large Insingo and when I buy one, it will most certainly have the micarta inlays.

I have both plain and inlayed versions and I go back and forth on it. But in the end, yes, I do think they are worth it. While the slimmer profile is nice, the micarta inlays I have make the knife very comfortable to use.

I like them on small Sebenzas. On the large ones, I prefer a plain scale. The inlays do add some grippiness to the small handles and make the knife more comfortable for me. The large Sebenzas are thick enough to fit me well w/o the inlays, and I like the feel of the large plain handles better.

Yah that is what he is saying... it is only 0.2 oz in weight savings, but lighter indeed.

I think the Micarta Sebies are my favorite!

If you can manage it, I think the micarta inlays are definitely worth it. They feel grippy in the hand, and they give the knife a tactical yet refined and classy look.
