Innocuous/discreet carry knives

If I am in a group of people I do not know or out of the general public, if anybody is looking for a knife to cut something I help them look. I never offer mine.
Absolutely! I have learned to never loan out my pocket knife. Almost every time I loaned it out someone would do something stupid with my knife. No more and never again!

This is absolutely the way I feel.
I use my folder in a very business like manner. I don t pay attention to other people around me when I use the folder. I open my knife with a thumb stud or hole. No flippers or flicks.
Interestingly, my coated blades get no more and maybe less attention than my coated blades.
I carry concealed, clipped IWB behind my belt.

I definitely feel that the degree of reaction to one using his pocket knife is related to the way one uses the knife. (What did we ever do before flippers?)

I agree except I don't worry about flipper tabs. The situation in which I really need to cut something and I'm around someone who might be afraid of knives is exceptionally rare. For instance, the latter might lead me to hold off on opening that letter, popping that zip tie, or liberating that snack from its package. I feel like that is just part of office etiquette. In the situation where they coincide, I'm not sure that nonchalantly snapping out a Gent or Elementum is that far off from extending the blade of a box cutter. Nonchalance is the key.

This sometimes comes up in favor of the ability to slow-roll a knife with thumb studs. However, in that exceptionally rare circumstance where it had any value, I could always misfire a flipper and gently engage the lock. In an extreme case, I suppose I could just misfire to a non-locked pinch grip if I really needed to trim a thread off my pants under the conference table of a really boring meeting... but I'd like to think that I could resist the urge.

A small utility knife like a Gerber EAB won't draw much attention. I also carry a Benchmade Proper when I want a modern steel with the looks of a traditional. You can find the CF s90v version for a decent price now that it's discontinued

It's NOT the knife necessarily, but rather, HOW you carry it.
Of course, I cheat a bit, as I live in Florida, and the t-shirt is always un-tucked.
Shown here is a Bradford G3, one of many that I've owned, and one of the best.
However, I can equally carry a 4" Busse cross-draw if desired.

May I ask where you got that sheath/carry system? Or is it something you made?
I have a G3 as well, and I love it, but the sheath leaves a little to be desired. That setup looks pretty nice.

Smatchet for the win fer sure!
Closest we got to a smatchet!

Really depends where I am. Here in California, I carry mostly inside my pocket without clips being visible; except when the knife is too large, then if possible a deep clip, see below, that's a 4" Yojumbo. When I'm in WY, I can carry an 8" fixed blade and nobody cares.
