I just got an inova light to replace my photon II. There is no comparison. Inova is easier to use, has multiple modes, and is less than 1/2 the price.

They rule.

you think the inova is better made though? the inova feels flimsy to me.

It's the microlight

Only time will tell on its longevity, I had my photon for a long time, but I went to replace the battery, and the little tab broke off. I only had one mode on the photon, but it looks more water resistant than the inova.

I picked up an inova last week too. When I pull my keys from my pocket it's on more often than I'd like. :grumpy: I definitely like the functionality and handling better than my photon. If the countycomm.com lights wouldn't break off their rings so often I'd stick with them.

I've carried an innova microlight for 4 years, they are very durable. The one downside is that the models that have the switch so that they stay on can be turned on in your pocket and run your batteries down.

You want to be amazed? Try the $1 fauxton from Light Hound. I'll never buy another $15 photon again!!!!!!

I believe both lights have multi-mode models already.

I bought my Inova (older version) over the Photon because the Photon just felt too damn small for me. This is because of the Inova's have a larger casing which extends to the "bulb". Not that I'd expect it to break but an extra measure of security for me.

My only caveat though is the clip, its not that secure. I've almost lost it twice while pulling it out of my jeans with my keys, and around here, it gets really expensive!

How does the inova compare to the photon as far as battery replacement? I used to have a photon, but once the battery died I could never get the pieces back together.

EpO

It's much easier to replace the batteries in the Inova Microlight than in the Photon II. I'd still rather not do it on the trail in the dark, but at home on the kitchen table, no problem. No tools needed if you have fingernails. Just pry the two halves of the light apart with your fingernails, slide out the two 2016s, slide in new ones, and snap the light back together.

The Inova Microlight with its multi mode feature is a real good user. In the dark, cold weather or when wearing gloves, the simple press operation is fool proof. Try getting the constant light on tab of the Photon II to operate in the same conditions! Oh yeah, the Microlight is extremely bright compared to the Photons. Although I hear Photon is / has come out with recent model(s) that are much brighter than the current line.

N.

I bought a bunch of the $1 keychain LED lights from County Comm - when the batteries die, I just switch to a new one - the replacement batteries would cost just about as much.

the freedom is 3x+ what the inove goes for, though.

The Freedom 2X is twice as bright as the regular Freedom with no decrease in burn time AND you can get a covert version. The Freedom is a done deal for me.

Bought an Inova for 9 bucks at a gun show, ordering a Photon II from the local farmers market knife dealer. Can't wait to play with it.

Any more feedback on these, guys? I just "invested" a bundle in five of them. :p Can't wait to see how they are!

Hey! Happens all the time with mine, was wondering about that.

The fauxtons from Light Hound are pretty sweet. I've probably gotten 5 or 6 all thrown in for free for various orders I've made. The first one showed up clicked on. Who knows how long it had been on, but it died shortly thereafter. I didn't care because, after all, it was a freebie. I wrote off the fauxtons thinking they were all crap.

Since then, however, every one that I've gotten has been awesome. Now they're scattered all over: stashed in pockets, drawers, zipper pulls.

I really haven't seen enough difference between these and real Photons to justify the price difference. Plus, they're a clone of my favorite version of the Photons: generation 2, with the pull switch for constant on. I prefer this version over all others I've seen because it's the hardest to accidentally turn on in the pocket.

So yea, try out the fauxtons. What have you got to lose at the price they offer them?
