Hello Hogs!
I have found myself Busse-less and would like to remedy this.
I have owned a good number of blades from Busse over the years, from large to small. I am also an inducted hog.
My usual knife choices tend to be clip points or trailing points but i can appreciate a drop point.
Most of my knives now are on the thinner side (3/16 and under stock thickness) so most Busse did not fit this bill. I also went through a downsizing which i now regret.
I have narrowed my choices down to five options.
The Slay Fillet,
It looks like a full tang version of the Taliwhacker and i love that. I have never had that style of handle though and am not so sure about the large ramp on the spine.
Team Gemini Ultra Light Brigade,
Love the looks. I have owned one before and ended up selling it as at the time i also owned a TG1.
This seems to be the most jack of all trades out of my selection. I am not crazy about the extreme contouring of the handle scales or how thin they are but could make it work. I feel like the thinner blade stock (for a Busse) also aligns with my current tastes.
Last Rites,
I owned a Last Rites before and while i loved the looks, it was too thick to be fast but too slender to hit very hard. Also the point wasn’t as piercing as i thought it should be for a slender blade like that. I do really love tanto shapes and the handle was very comfortable.
Radioactive Meaner Street,
I have owned one of these as well as a MO. I preferred the MO but those are hard to find these days. I gave this one up because it seemed thick for how short and slender the blade was. I don’t think i gave it the chance it deserved though. The handle is on the smaller side for me near the index finger and thumb.
Anorexic Trough Raider,
I had the original fatty, and while it was awesome, it just wasn’t something i wanted to lug around.
Demon Razor Seed,
This one seems nice and pointy with a comfortable looking handle.
Nano Team Gemini,
I had one but didn’t use it very much. I think i just had too many options at the time. It does seem very well balanced and the geometry is more my speed these days. I do think practically speaking it is the best Team Gemini in the series.
If you had to pick ONE, which would it be?
Any pics or comments are appreciated.
