I just received a Long Serpent in Maroon & Competition.

I'm not complaining, but the current maroon canvas looks more like black paper than the maroon canvas I've gotten in the past. It's not actually black, bit it's very dark. In case that makes a difference.

Unacceptable, send to me for proper disposal.
I actually love the darker look to that.
The maroon micarta on my DSR is definitely lighter.
I noticed awhile back the black canvas was looking REALLY black. I think it was on the mega ratweiler and such.

Im perplexed! (I think thats the right word anyways!
I really loved the older maroon micarta but, I think I could really love this color a bit more maybe?
John, anyway you could take a couple more pics in different lighting perhaps (sunshine- or brighter light inside )

I can't do bright sunshine because it's going to be overcast here for the next few days, but it doesn't look all that much different outside.

That looks really nice imo - very dark like you say. I like it a lot!
However, i dont think it would look as good with Midnight Blue as the older Maroon did.
I may change my order from Maroon to Tan Micarta on the TG Knuckle Knife...
I dont think the contrast would be as good with the new Maroon vs Old Maroon
The older brighter Maroon looked so good with Midnight Blue imo
Then again, I love the new Maroon with Comp Finish as shown
