Input for large S30V FRN clipit.

one of the stoutest zytel/frn handled knives I have seen is the Lightfoot M1 model from CRKT. It isn't thin or light but its very solidbut will making an FRN knife heavy duty and giving it an s30v blade allow the price point to be low enough? Seems like all you are saving is the cost of handle slabs.

NATIVE CHIEF

Or an FRN full sised Calypso-although I'd be as happy with VG-10 for either. I've been EDC'ing a Calypso Jr. for years, but since I've rounded the tip, I've been EDC'ing a Wayne Goddard. I really like the larger blade. I like a knife with a very pointy point. I really find them useful. That's part of the reason that I like the Native and Calypso.:)
BTW- did I mention the NATIVE CHIEF?

Whatever you want, just don't ever stop making the oldschool FRN Delica.
The best knife ever.

I know, it was a cry for help. I need to pick up another one (or several) for the future, since the design was replaced by a silly new model.

I like the idea of a 4", s30v, USA made, FRN, ( Wayne Goddard scales) Tanto point!:D I used to carry a CS Voyager Tanto only because the tanto blade is so darn perfect in my handyman work. I want a spyderco tanto point, followed with 2" of serrations, followed with 2" of plain edge! I would buy any FRN Tanto point between 3-1/2" & 4". This is a good thread to help create this type of knife.

I'm not sure that Golden needs a counterpart to the Endura 4. This design is now so refined why make something new but similar....just purchase the Endura 4 and all it's years of refinement and glory. :D I think a PX that carried the Endura 4 and Delica 4 would not be lacking in quality, practical folders.

I say keep that manufacturing capacity open for cool new designs like the Kris and the new redesigned Lil' Temperance 2.

Hi Puukkoman,

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I understand your concern. On the other hand,

I'd love to see a FRN Compression lock Military or para-Millie shaped design. I'd buy several for me and my nearest and dearest.

Are we talking about a FRN $50.00-$75.00 knife with S30v??

The first Spyderco I bought was an Endura in a blister pack at the BX(Air Force store) way back in 1993. I still carry it to this day. And guess what, it only has a G2 blade, but it still cuts stuff. Beats me why. It has cut everything I asked it to and more(can of beans to a motor mount). Would I have bought a different Spyderco if there were 2 hanging in the store?? One with G2 blade and about $35.00 or one with ATS-34(it was the "steel" back in the day) and about $50.00(1993 prices). Hmmm..... I don't know. I suppose if I picked up both packages and one explained why I was paying more, what the benefit was, and so on I might have come home with the better steel. No telling.

I think the new Endura 4 is going to be excellent. Would this new S30v FRN knife be cheaper then it, more expensive, or about the same price as an Endura 4?? Do we need it, does the average consumer care about the steel?? If he/she/it has been educated about blade steel, then it will make a difference. I would like to see a tough FRN S30v folder, something the same price as an Endura, but alittle bigger. Military sized would be nice. Would I buy one?? No telling. :)

Blades

I think an FRN version of the Manix (w/4" blade) would be the my choice, re-engineered as necessary to allow large scale production. If the blade needs to be something other than a flat grind, so be it, although flat grind is my preference. Someone mentioned a saber grind - if that grind is less expensive to produce, that would be my second choice.

Following what Blades has said, it would have to be different enough from the endura 4 to be viable to the market. The big Calypso failed because it was perceived as a duplicate of the the police (and it had different material). If a reinforced large frn folder was offered with only a differing blade steel, Joe Average will likely not buy it...assuming the distributors even picked it up.
