Input needed from all on Bark River and A-2 Steel

Allrighty then It seems we a winner. Now I just got to decide shat one I want. I do want around 4.5 inch blade full tang. Just gotta get looking now.:p

This is going to be my next Bark River knife. A Teddy-1 with Antique Micarta handle. :D

K.V - that Teddy-1 looks exceptional, hadn't seen it before. You can definitely see some of the old Marble's influence .... looks like a modern classic!

I only have one, a mini-Canadian. I am currently including it in my EDC rotation, and I just got done cutting up a rather large pile o' cardboard. Yep, still shaving sharp! I haven't even had to sharpen it yet, and I've deaminated a bunch of boxes, carved a pile of fuzz sticks while bored when hunting, and other various light usage. It is a handy little knife. I've seen other patterns, and some of them do not appeal to me because of the blade thickness (1/4" blades are not my cup of tea). However, the Rogue speaks to me... I will eventually get me one. Don't know quite what I will use it for, but I love the lines. There are a few patterns that are a little thinner though. I will have to check them out. Overall, I think BRKT's are a winner, and the A2 gets wicked sharp and is easy to maintain with the convex edge.

The correct name of the knife is the Teddy Hunting Bowie. Either way, it will be mine. Oh, yes...it will be mine. :D

Every Bark River knife I have seen had almost flawless quality, the knives have a old school mystique to them that I like. A2 steel has been and is still used by some of the best knife makers/manufactures in the world, take Chris Reeve's fixed blades for example, good stuff from Bark River.

I currently own 3 and have used my Fox River extensively. I cannot recommend them enough. Outstanding in all respects. (except for the sheaths)

My Bark Rivers hold a good edge, and the edge profile of the convexed blades means very high cutting performance. Sharpening by stropping is a snap.

What kind of sheath do BRKT come with? I know this is off the orginal topic, hope its ok to ask this.

Thanks

They come with leather sheaths of various types, depending on the knife. The quality of the leather itself seems fine to me. I've heard complaints about BRKT sheaths for one particular knife or other, then no complaints about the sheath for another knife. LJK, which knives in particular do you not like the sheaths on?

Out of curiosity, why don't you carry the Bark River? Unless I'm mistaken, I do not see it as a listed brand that you sell. Got most of my Benchmades from you, love those Band-Aid holders. Good doing business with NGK.

Joe:
I dislike the sheaths on both the Fox River and the Highland (I had a custom made for Fox River) They work ok but for me seem far behind the design and quality of the knives. I brought mine more then year ago. I have since heard Mike Stewart has been working on improving his sheaths.

LJK-

I believe you are correct. I think Bark River is issuing sheaths for older models with "known problems".

Dont quote me on it, but I think if you contact them they will be able to spell it out more clearer than I could.

all the best,

Ron
