Inron MY803 (What's your opinion?)

I have one. I'm not sure where it went. It was a good beater, had no blade play, it rusted evenly, and had many hot spots. It's a bad EDC knife, but if you are just using it as a pry bar it's fine.

It's really gritty to open, it hurts your finger/thumb to open it, and the ergos are pretty bad. It's worth $8 or so, but it sucks.

The knife is clearly not a clone trying to pass as a real Hinderer..... So they aren't "stealing" from anyone.... That's like saying a Toyota with a V8 is stealing from Ford.... ridiculous. Plus they cost less than 20$ shipped...... pretty damn good considering an XM18 is 40 times the price.

That is a perfect oxymoron. It is indeed a clone, if it said Hinderer then it would be a counterfeit trying to pass as a real one. As for the automotive analogy, only if the Toyota looks like a Mustang. ;)

I would think Mr hinderer would be flattered buy someone making a knife similar to his. I do think hinderer is much better and very well made but for a beater knife the my803 is neat . I would love to have a hinderer but at 500 plus it would not be a beater knife.

He isn't flattered at all, quite the opposite in fact.

And I would be too. It might be one thing for someone to try and make one for their own personal use and never to be sold because they really like the design, or create a new design that is inspired by another maker...but to rip a design and sell mass quantities of them using lesser quality materials...how could any maker be flattered by that???

No Rick is not flattered by these knock offs and now counterfeit knives. Carrying a high quality knife that costs more than the my 803 does not qualify it as a beater, I call it an EDC !

Although I didn't get a chance to see the Nutnfancy video before He took it down. I believe the one he reviewed was a much more accurate copy, counterfeit actually.

Maybe but I'm certain he discussed a Inron model. :) I guess we'll never know now.

He did discuss the Inron MY803 in his video, but I would say the main focus of the video was on the other Hinderer copy that was of higher quality and cost more $$$ than the Inron.

I actually downloaded that particular video of his before he deleted it because I had a feeling that the uproar would cause him to pull it.

Awesome!! Would like to see it!!

After being lucky enough to catch Nutnfancy's video I got the Inron My803 in Orange G10 scales. I didn't think it would be worth a flip but honestly I will have to say it's the best $16 I ever spent on a knife. I was surprised enough I showed it off at work and the impression from the other guys at work was enough to make me order 10 more to give out. Blade came wicked sharp and decent metal. Just a stainless steel scale but with G10 handle scale and a nice pocket clip. The knife is bigger than I thought and I have big hands. I loved the feel of it. Not too thick not too thin. The flipper deployment was super. Took me 4 or 5 tries to get the feel for how much force was needed but after a few tries it is really quick and smooth. Blade is centered perfectly and the grind lines are dead on. To be honest after seeing the knife and handling it if they had wanted to charge $50 I would pay it. At $16 shipped its a freaking steal. If you get more than 4 I think it drops to $14 and then $12 for 20 or more. Great knife definitely surprised me and I would never have even looked at it if I hadn't stumbled on the video.

I just ordered one with black g-10 looking forward to getting it .

I also bought the black one about a year and a half ago before I got into collecting. I didn't even know who Rick Hinderer was, and that this was based on his design, I just thought it was an interesting looking knife. Funny thing is that my friend bought the tan g10 version and found out that the mine had a much grippier g10 than his. Almost like the g10 on the coldsteel folders.

Come on, the Inron is clearly not a knockoff. Did you see that the pocket clip only has one position? The backside of the pivot also doesn't have a spanner slot! The thumb studs also aren't the blade stop... How could you call it a knockoff when the Inron has those vital 3 differences?

Joking aside, I have held back pulling the trigger on the Inron, but looked at a lot of feedback for it. Aside from a few QC snafus, the response is pretty unanimously positive. I just hate the finish on the steel handle with that fugly satin. I don't know what it is, but I find it optically offensive.

The Inron 803 is a OK knife for the money. The QC is real hit and miss though.I have had one for about a year or so and it has held up OK. I do like the 9cr.... They are a fun knife to mod.

Nice handle on that. Acid etched or stonewashed? Either way, that de-fuglies the handle right up.
