I just got back from Josh Smith's Hammer In in Frenchtown Montana.
We all had a FANTASTIC time. Some awesome makers were on hand
as well as some really great collectors for a gathering that was one for the ages.

I got lucky and drew on this one from Larry Fuegen
Here are the details of this amazing piece from Larry.
Beautiful new forged scroll folder by mastersmith Larry Fuegen. Carved crown white tail stag antler with fossil walrus ivory fangs, teeth and spikes. Full file work inside and out on nickel silver liners. Sculpted copper fin with 2 14k rose gold scissor tongues. The eyes are core fossil walrus ivory cabochons. 4.25 inch carved ladder pattern damascus blade. The 3 protruding tines have stainless steel talons inlaid into their centers.

Wow, that one is out there... I have a Fuegen goblin, but it's much simpler than this one.

Looks a bit awkward to carry doesn't it?:D;)

Nice piece. The first knife book I ever had had a picture of Larry Fuegens "The Howler". I've always admired his work.

Kind regards,

Jos

Got to see this knife at Josh's knife show. It is absolutely fantastic. In intricacy of the work is mindboggling. By the way, it sold.

Hey Keith maybe you don't remember, I met you at the private collectors show at the art gallery in Missoula. We sat outside and chatted for a bit with Josh.
I purchased the Fuegen piece, and you are right it IS mind boggling.

Blake let me have a close look at this beauty. Its hard to believe everything going on here. Its a genuine art piece for sure.

This one had EVERYONE scratching their heads in amazement. It's a rich acquired taste, but no one can deny pure artistry and accomplishment even if it's on the fringe. And this one makes NO apologies. :D

(Buddy and I worked together to attempt to give good clear portfolio shots. Two photographers vs. one Ripper = Ripper wins. :p Larry laughed when he knew we would shoot it for Blake. He's been through this task before.... ;))

Way to go, Blake!

Looks like it crawled out a mud pit somewhere. Really different sort of art knife. Hollywood special effects stuff. What's next, TRex?

thanks guys, Lisch as always great to see you and Tom you guys are bros. Coop nice to meet you in person. We all had so much fun. Great pictures Bruce.

Looks as though the Ripper was the hit of the show and it had every right to be. Blake will get loads of enjoyment showing it to his friends etc. It definately is a true artistic knife and one which won't be seen or duplicated by anyone else. The closeup pictures are fantastic and show detail much better. Way to go Larry. Bert and Lorraine

That detail is outstanding.
Larry's work just gives the impression that there's nothing he can't do extremely well.

That is the most incredible thing I have EVER seen. The detail is just in a world of it's own. My God look at this thing !! The teeth with Gums even !!

(wife comes in)

Wowwww!! She says. The coolest knife She has seen either.

Just wonderful :)

I bow to my Fuegen.

Not only is Larry one of my favorite makers, he is also one of my favorite people.
This knife was one of the most incredible things I've seen. It was the perfect blend of fantasy and high art. Nothing was left untouched and still nothing was over done. It's a magnificent cross of fish and dragon, and as some of you might know, I know a thing or two about dragons.
I'm glad you got it Blake, you'll enjoy it for years.
