Inserting plastic liners

Hi,When is the best time to insert the liners ??

Polish the scales and blade then assemble .

Assemble then shape and polish.

I just made a knife with liners and used the first option but it was a messy process.

There must be someone that can tell me when you fit the liners.
Do you polish the blade then fit the ruff scales and liners.
Or do you shape the scales and liners then glue them all together??????

I'm assuming this is a full tang, fixed blade? If so, finish the blade, then glue up the rough scales, shape and finish. It can be done other ways but this is 'basic knife making 101'.

Thank You Don ,I was worried that the buff would burn the liners .Yes it is a full tang knife (Jabrock and white liners)
