Inside the Buck 830 Marksman

Thanks much for posting these.

Looks to be quite a knife for a very reasonable sum.

It really is. You get a lot for what they are charging for it, would have gladly paid more. I have paid more for knives and not been impressed.

So, I'm guessing you could take the blade out by just removing the pivot screw, as long as you stick something in there to keep the bearings in place, since the channel for the stop pin is open?

You could, I did try that after I took it apart the first time. It was difficult to get the washers and bearings to stay in place. It ended up being faster taking it down all the way, at least for me.

That little back spacer piece that the pocket clip screws into is steel. I got a magnet to stick to it.

I saw the handle screw holes and thought they were the clip screw holes. Not used to seeing a rear mounted clip like that. I will concede stupid and move on. I am back to moderately excited about this knife.

Wow, after seeing these pictures and the quality of components, I'm tempted to pick one of these up!

I got one on trade. If you get one get a second run or later version. The first gen has issues with action, the lock, the flipper is incredibly sharp, and the blade is bead blasted. I love the knife, but second gen seems to be a whole lot better.

swatpup, thanks for all of this. could you please give me a list of the tools you used to take it apart? i have to tighten the strap and i don't have a screwdriver that small to fit in there and am wondering which one would fit.

Pivot should be a T8 or T10, and the handle screws are T6, same with the clip and lock bar screws.

Interesting looking knife, I was not familiar with it before today! From the looks it is a decently built knife.

thanks, but what about the tiny one? the one they say that you can tighten the lock as the metal wears down? the one just above the handle screws. i've worn mine down a bit already and need to tighten it.

Bump... does anyone know this size allen??? Thanks!
