Insight on a new fixed blade

The F1 is a beautiful knife. I sold my S1 because I didn't like the Kraton handle and Kydex sheath. The new F1 has a Micarta handle and a full-closure leather sheath. The blade is laminated VG10 with a convex edge and is the sharpest knife I've ever had. I love this knife. I found the best prices for the F1 at Knifeworks.

The Benchmade Nimravus is very nice 4.5" fixed blade.

I've never seen a complaint about an F1 here! you can try knife works (Roger is cool), grand prairie, and new graham knives, all are good places.

Alright, so simpler question: F1 vs RC3?

I'm really liking the RC3 for the size, sheath system, steel, coating, and even price (about $90, very comperable to the F1). I like the extra metal on the pommel that they consider a glass breaker (I'm just thinking general impact tool). It also looks like the RC3 can be taken apart, and the F1 looks like the handle is molded on (I could be wrong, if so, please correct), and being able to dissasemble to clean is a big deal.

So what do you think, F1, or RC3, seems almost equal support for both (if not a little more for the F1).

your right, the handle on the F1 is molded on. your new so I'll tell you what we usually do (and what your going to do!) get both!
either are fine blades. (F1! go back a couple dozen pages and see! :D )

How about a pair of Moras?

Cheaper than dirt, extremely useful, and with their inexpensive price, you never have to worry about abusing them. Carry a pair, and you're covered even if you lose or damage one.

Man, new to the forum, yes (although I've been hovering around for a while now), but new to the knife addiction, sadly not. It seems an unforgiving addiction that will ultimatly consume all of my extra money. Getting both does seem like the best option, especially to compare first hand for myself, but it looks like I can really only get one anytime soon.

The F1 can have a Kraton handle that is molded on, but it also comes with Micarta handles.

Are thoes micarta slabs removable? Looks like pins holding it together. Nice looking blade though man. Anyone with an RC3, can you confirm that it can be stripped down for a good cleaning?

Had good luck with my Gerber LMF and my SOG Seal Pup

I also like the DOizer Arkansas tooth pick. never handled an F1. I do have an RC3 on order tho.

that micarta is beautiful but it adds around 100 bucks to it! you could get like 8 mora's for that!

I have to say, go with a Bark River and you will get a great knife, awesome customer services , greatest warranty and you can choose from so many blade styles and handle types including some very "Non- intimidating" ones such as blaze orange micarta for example. Mikes tempering is second to none too! Only trouble is they are like Lays potato chips. You can't have just one! Hehehe!
