hey guys im looking for your opinions here. i have a pair of Vasque shoes that i love for hiking, but i wear them so much that ive worn down the insoles. Any how im leaving to for montana in 10 days and im looking to get a new pair of insoles. Every box of insoles says it does the same thing, but i know they cant all work the same though. Im going to be putting a ton of hiking miles on each day, and im really looking for a good comfortable set of insoles. so let me know what insoles you guys have tried, and what insoles work the best for long mile comfort. Also im wearing a pack at about 45lbs so i would like some cushioning. thanks guys for your help

Dr Scholls gel insoles are not bad at all, but they have downsides. They're pricy and they never seem to last long (they'll last for one trip for sure), plus sometimes they tend to grab at your socks and cause rubbing and hot spots. There are a few companies that make polymer heat fitted foot support as well, you throw them in an oven for a few minutes and then they conform to the shape of your foot.

I like the plain padded superfeet. I absolutely despise arch support, as it takes away all the natural feedback and shock absorption that nature gave your feet, so the plain flat padded insoles are awesome for giving you some padding and extra comfort without confining your naturally dynamic feet to a rigid shape.

Yep - gotta go with the plain 'vanilla' Green SuperFeet. They're awesome!!! I wear 'em in my trail shoes for the extra bit of support w/o all the unnecessary padding so many other insoles give. As MM mentions above, they allow for the right "feedback" for what's going on underfoot.

My mountain boots are pretty supportive as is, but they'll be getting their own Green's too.

Superfeet Green are pretty great. I injured a tendon back in Oct and it would get better and then as soon as I'd do any hiking on steep or walking on pavement it would get worse.

Got the superfeet green and within a month it was barely noticable and by 2 months the pain and limping was gone.

Here's another recommendation for the green Superfeet. Most of my shoes have them installed and they seem to lock my heel into my shoes and boots and cradle it as well. Not cheap, but if you're putting in the miles, they're a great bargain.

There are some other insoles which are pretty good from all reports (i'm thinking of the heat-mold custom, but forgetting the brand). However, the Superfeet last is neutral which removes any possible "wrong" correction and is a really good quality item.

In fact, i've had mine for 12 years and they are pretty much unchanged - despite some really stanky feet!!! I do clean mine from time to time using whatever soap is convenient at the moment to help eliminate the rot going on down there.

Looking at superfeet I have a question. What do they mean by high volume, medium volume etc.
Thanks,

Means how thick yer foot is - say from bottom to the top and the 'overall' space your foot requires - 'volume'/area.

I recently was interested in getting some replacement insoles, and went online to do some research.

The number of positive reports and accolades for Superfeet -above all others - was absolutely amazing.
Both the regular green, and the wide blue.

I had never even heard of them...

Green Superfeet. I have psoriatic arthritis in my feet, knees hips lower and mid back and neck. Superfeet has added to my survival of it and they last rather well.
