Instructional video on 204 - unusable!

Bestknives on the other hand knew I was from Belgium (the parcel got here, didn't it) and never mentioned anywhere that the tape was not compatible. How the hell should I no, they don't ask it, they don't say it.

Didn’t you new that in USA they use different system than in Europe? If don’t – it’s your fault. Average American don’t know a thing about world outside USA (ok, maybe Canada & Mexico they do know). I’m from Europe, and in several occasions I was asked if we have microwaves, TVs, cars in our country. And if they never shipped any videos abroad (usually knifes and videos don’t came hand in hand) how do they supposed to know that somewhere in the world people use different TV standards ?

IMHO you need to cool down :)

I've been offline due to personal reaons a while...

I've contacted the people of Spyderco in the mean while and they actually were so kind to inform me that a PAL-version is on its way to me!!!!! In no way, legal or commonb devency, did they have to do such a thing, but still, they do NOT back down and look for maximum customer-satisfaction.

I was extremely sceptic toward all Spyderco-stories, but this is exceptional. I will keep this in mind and recommend Spyderco to any friends, family, co-workers.

In other words, Spyderco stands tall, even when you least expect it!

Thanks!!!

O, what is snail mail (something slow, like a snail..., what's the opposite?)?

Just so I know for the future...

Thanks.

Hi all,

At SPyderco we've always offered the Sharpmaker with a VHS, PAL or SEACAM format instruction video. The dealer ordering simply needs to specify what format while placing the order. They are all the same price.

Koolstof,

Glad we were able to help. Please let us know if you have not seen your video in 7-9 days okay? "Snail mail" means your physical mailing address. Take care!

Joyce @ Spyderco

Today, 30 November, I have seen the video. I asked around with some friends and one had a compatible VCR. I could not reply earlier because of my irregular acces to the Net.

If the video is on it's way, very nice, another viewing in the comfort of my own home would be nice but if it has not shipped yet: thank you very much for the offered help but I will manage.

By the way, the video is good, very good and helpfull, glad I've seen it. Already delivered some fine sharpening :-)

Again, sorry for the late reply, this is as fast as I could answer your question.

Greetings.

Chuck,
If you insist on PAL, that's your problem. It's like buying a knife that comes as advertised with a leather sheath and then complaining that you wanted Kydex.
MamBo,
Didn’t you new that in USA they use different system than in Europe? If don’t – it’s your fault.
Not exactly. A lot of Americans use European and Japanese cars, right? Being exported to America these cars should match American road standards, what are different from European and even more from Japanese ones. With no thanks...
There is left-side traffic in Japan, do you know? Now imagine – you are ordering Toyota, pay full catalog price for it and it comes... set up for left-side traffic! Or with the manual in Japanese... What about manufacturer’s or dealer’s (or their self-taught attorney like in this case) explanation: ”This is your problem that in your country you insist on improperly set up traffic (or wrong language)”?
I honestly doubt this explanation would satisfy you anyway. So why yours should satisfy Koolstof or anyone else? Think about this for a moment, please.

Especially you are not right because SPYDERCO issue videotapes also in PAL for European market. Mine cassette is marked PAL (the mark was clearly visible through transparent package) and accessible on European videos. This is not SPYDERCO but BestKnives fault and complaints are completely legitimated.

Thanks Mr. Mitin.

I repeat and stress that Spyderco was more then friendly in this entire story, Bestknives was not. If I wanted to I could easily take legal action (any purchase on distance can be discontinued with 8 working days) but the mistake of Bestknives was not due to false, dishonest nature but simple neglect. They have earned some credit and this incident, in all not a big one, will not keep me from doing business with them in the future.
