Integral Explosion Damascus Kukri

Excellent work Salem...I especially am in awe of that sculpted handle. I am gonna have to get a forged Damascus blade someday.

Wow!!!! How do you avoid gapitis when you weld the guard pieces to the blade?

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Joe, it's get it good and hot, keep it that hot, only hit it a few times and back into the forge. Lots of flux. Hit it carefully end-on, sideways, back and forth lightly at first and then harder and thoroughly. Plus, you have to hold your mouth right while welding it.

Wow! That is one awesome pattern in that blade, exceptional.

I am aware that it is not perfect, but it's another step on the way.

pretty significant step, Salem. Your damascus for this piece is incredible

Full moon required? ;)

I've been making a few pieces in this multibar explosion, and it's an interesting journey getting the pattern size and resolution where I want it to be.
Sometimes the detail is too fine to be fully appreciated, except for in maybe a macro shot. Other times it's much more coarse and elongated, which can look really cool but I'm trying to find a happy medium with lots of visible w's chaos existing in a still tight pattern.

On this one I lessened the initial layer count and increased the layers of w's a bit. I like what that does.
