I swelled out the guard while I was forging this one. It makes for a comfortable fit in the hand. I have left the forging marks on the flats but did a mirror finish on the grind. Not your traditional finish on a forged knife but fun to try out.

Forged from 1/4 inch 5160
Flat grind with distal taper on the blade and tang
Mirror finish on the blade, forge finish on the flats
White oak handle (stabilized)
Overall length: 9 1/8 inches
Blade: 4 1/2 inches
Riveted leather scabbard

$120 ----SOLD----- delivered to the US or Canada. My PP account is gldrewknives@yahoo.com I will take checks with time to clear or USPS money orders

Hey Gerry! Nice touch on swelling the tang for a finger guard. You're really getting the feel with the hammer. That little addition is very practical on a blade with no guard, feels good and keeps the finger from slipping onto the "painful part". Keep up the good work!

Very nice Gerry!. Does the swell at the guard make it a bit handle heavy?
You are having fun!

It still balances just behind the guard; just where I like so the knife lays on the palm of the hand not ready to tip forward if it were heavy toward the blade. They just gotta feel good like your shotgun or fishing pole.

I just received this knife, and it really is one of the best hunter/general utility knives I've had in my hand in a long time. Fantastic work
