Whenever I see the Brazilian makers mentioned, Gustavo Vilar always seems to be left out.

Which is a shame because of all the knives I own by the Brazilian makers - integrals in particular - Gustavo's fit and finish are arguably the finest of the bunch.

Some gorgeous knives in this thread. So interesting to see the many incarnations of an integral, from finely milled and precision ground stock removal pieces to hand forged, carved and intricately fileworked knives, there's seemingly no limit to what a maker can do in this discipline...

Here's a pic of my first full integral. The steel is O2 carbon toolsteel selectively heat treated by Markus Balbach. Grips are stag. My wife calls this a cool steak kniife! I did all of the machining myself. :D

That knife is one of the most elegant I've ever seen.

I would have to agree. I was soooooo tempted when it came up for sale, but soooooo out of cash at the time. :(

And you are not posting them, why....????

Superb knives in this thread. Thanks to ALL for the treat. Nice diversion.

Mongo: Hill lives a simpler life in Alabama now, and tinkers with writing, music, and guns. He no longer has the tools and facilities to work on knives any more, because of a big lifestyle change. For the better. :)

OK, here's one - I stole the photo when I bought the knife:

Right now it's the only photo I have of a Gustavo Vilar integral.

I bet Christoph Derringer would try one. He is a real glutton for punnishment!
NICE THREAD.
ADAM.

Yes he would, and probably do it very well.

Some stunning knives in this thread. I love that Overeynder chute knife.

Joss, Ed is a friendly sort....most people find him a character but always a gentleman....I know he has patterns from a few hundreds to the many thousands, if interested give him a call.

Looks really nice Todd, that larger format caught my eye visiting your site the other day. I hope your mid-tech's will be "available" (especially when I have the cash, LOL).
