Hello BladeForums!

I've got a bit of a strange one for ya. I know this isn't really a "for sale" thread, but @Boru13 was kind enough to allow me to post this here.

I am currently trying to have a new blade made for a Small Sebenza 21 Insigno out of Damacore DC18N Hugin. I'm sure you all know what this is, but just to refresh your memory, Damacore is a powered metal, stainless damascus patterned steel (Damasteel) with an N11X (basically Vanax) core. It's produced by Damasteel. Really awesome stuff.

I will only need a 6" length for the project, but the smallest length I can get my hands on is 1.5" x .125" x 12", which is double the length I need. At nearly $600 for a foot it's a bit of an investment and I'd hate to get stuck with the leftover 6 inches of steel and nothing to do with it. That's where you (possibly) come in!

Would any of you be interested in a 1.5" x .125" x 6" bar of Damacore DC18N Hugin for a little under cost? I figure I'll put in the order for the 12" length and then when it arrives, you can pay your share when I ship your piece to you. It will be cut with a high tension hacksaw.

Total cost is $577.63 shipped for a foot. I'm thinking your cost for a six inch length would be $250 shipped.

If no one is interested, I'll go ahead and buy the bar anyways and post the six inch piece on the forum after it arrives.

Here are some pics of the Hugin Damacore from the Damasteel website to give you an idea of how the pattern would look on a knife.

Curious as to why you need 6" and not 4". The blade is only 3.5-3.7" in length. Just wondering! I knoW its expensive but you will be very happy with the end product!! Damasteel is fantastic stuff and beautiful when finished..

I could only get a 2" x 3\8 x 9" piece for my build so I had two extra kiridashi made.

Six inches is just what the person who I'm trying to talk into making the blade (you know who you are!) suggested. The shortest length available is also twelve inches long, so I figured I'd just make it easy and split it down the middle with someone and then the maker could keep the leftovers (or ship it back to me). It's actually for a small Sebenza Insigno so he could probably even get by with under four inches. IDK, maybe there are other reasons, I'm too inexperienced to know.

If someone wanted a piece longer than six inches, I could easily work that out.

I wish you did this last week!!!! I would have been all over it for an 8" piece.... I just commissioned another custom knife and was going back and forth between Damasteel and the makers san mai of W2 & 420!! He just cut the steel Friday:eek:.
Oh well, just lousy timing! I wish you the best of luck, both with finding a buyer and your build!! Lookin' forward to seeing the end results!!
