I'm still on my quest to find Norax 9" discs. I guess they don't make them but I talked to a factory rep today that has an interest in making a special run of these for knife makers. He is an hour and half away from me and his job occasionally brings him to my town. I told him I need to run him through my shop to see the need. He is interested.

The question is, how many would be interested, at least initially, in getting 9" Norax discs? of course the price would have to be competitive but the darn things last forever, how many would you need???

maybe 9 1/2" x 11" sheets would be better?

I'm interested Tracy! :)

edited to ask:

Are we talking regular 9" discs, or PSA discs? I use Norton Zirconia discs in 50, 120, and 220 on my 9" that are PSA and I love them.

Thanks!

I'd guess the cheapest way they could be made so that would be plain ol 9" discs.

I think Norax is possibly the best abrasive out there right now in 100x down to 5x. I bet I've used some of them on at least 30 knives and they are still have a huge amount of life left in them. A disc version would be perfect for flats on blades, flat grind and folder parts.

I too may be interested, what grits are you talking about and how many do you need to order for this to work out.

On one hand, I don't mind cutting discs out of 9X11 sheets as it's usually a bit cheaper.

On the other hand, the PSA discs are super easy to slap on and take off. The off-cuts from cutting 9X11 are kind of awkward pieces to use as well.

A regular 9" would be pretty dandy though. I don't know how they'd work on a disc, but I do know I love the Norax belts, so I think it would be worth a try.

John, I was buying 120 and 220 x ceramic discs from K&G, but they don't seem to sell them anymore. I bought a bunch of the Norton Zirconia (blue) discs from John Mallet at Tru-Grit. :)

I am interested In 120 through 220 if the price is at all competitive. I just built a variable speed 9 inch disc machine. It's getting a lot of use. psa is what I use. Fred

If the price is not out of line, I'm interested. 120 to 220 grit. PSA would sure be nice, too.

If I can get the rep to commit to a run for us, I'll price sheets and both kinds of discs. If any of the knife supply house owners are stumble onto this, we are going to need a supplier to stock these things. He was asking who I get my Norax from currently. Any one got a relationship with the Truegrit guys?

Get some details and let us know.Sounds interesting.Best of all,a 5 year supply of discs will fit in a drywall bucket.Tight ,dry, and doesn't take up the space belts do.100,220,400 grits would be great.I'd buy 50 to 100 of them if the price was right.

Sounds like there is a good interest. I know I would really like some. I'll keep you posted on how this progresses if at all....
